Les politiques de commerce et d’investissement font face à un environnement géopolitique en évolution. Ils font face également à des défis résultant des interactions et des limites propres aux accords sur le commerce et l’investissement avec d’autres pays.
Ces défis liés au passage des frontières internationales adoptent diverses formes et relèvent de secteurs variés comprenant le commerce de l’énergie, la sécurité alimentaire et des enjeux liés à l’environnement et à la santé publique. De façon similaire, les dynamiques frontalières se distinguent considérablement en matière de flux transfrontaliers de tourisme, de main-d’oeuvre qualifiée et de migration irrégulière.
Cet ouvrage révèle et analyse les facteurs qui gouvernent l’activité économique et l’interaction humaine depuis la frontière « poreuse » du Canada. Les collaborateurs de cet ouvrage collectif examinent les principaux aspects politiques, techniques et administratifs, internes au Canada, qui déterminent les conditions et les contraintes d’une politique internationale efficace et de la coopération en matière de réglementation.

As an academic but also as a civil servant and business association representative, he has spent much of the past twenty years dealing with tax and budgetary systems and their impact on various aspects of Canada's economy and society.

Monica Gattinger is Director of the University of Ottawa’s Institute for Science, Society and Policy, Full Professor at uOttawa’s School of Political Studies, and Chair of Positive Energy. She holds a PhD in public policy from Carleton University. Professor Gattinger’s research and engagement focus on the energy and arts/Cultural Policy sectors. Her work explores ways of strengthening governance, policy, and regulation in the context of fast-paced innovation, technological change, and markets; fundamental social and value change; and lower public trust in government, industry, science, and expertise.
