Description

Rosalie’s parents fight like cats and dogs, even now that they’re divorced. It’s hard going from one house to another and knowing that although she loves them both, her parents just don’t get along anymore. But there’s one thing her mom and dad do agree on: they both love Rosalie, and Rosalie is here to stay!

About the authors

Mélanie Perreault has published around twenty books for children. Her book Rosalie entre chien et chat was nominated for six literary awards including a Governor General’s Literary Award. Conveying the joy of reading has always been at the heart of her pursuits. In 2000, before even finishing her bachelor’s degree in literature, she landed her first job in the publishing world. In 2004 she became the Editorial Director at Les Éditions Pierre Tisseyre: truly a stroke of luck! She adores the enormous freedom and rich exchanges that this job gives her. Constantly on the lookout for children’s literary production in Québec and elsewhere, this bookworm has a keen eye for the aesthetics of children’s books and their unmatched evocative power. When not writing, you can find Mélanie reading too much, searching through the library, or traveling all over Québec with her family and her partner. Wherever she goes and whatever she does, books follow her.

After obtaining a diploma in film animation at Les arts Décoratifs de Paris, French artist Marion Arbona started working as an illustrator for children’s books. Her illustrations, painted with gouache, are colorful and funny. She likes to draw fully detailed scenes. When she is not drawing, she is particularly interested in deep sea fish, cats (even though she is allergic) and weird plants. Marion was awarded several illustration prizes in the USA and in Canada where she lived for 10 years. She returned to live in Paris in 2015.

Chantal Bilodeau is a Montréal-born, New York-based playwright and translator whose work focuses on the intersection of science, policy, art, and climate change. She is the founding artistic director of the Arts & Climate Initiative (formerly The Arctic Cycle) and over the past decade has been instrumental in getting the theatre and educational communities, as well as audiences in the US and abroad, to engage in climate action through programming that includes live events, talks, publications, workshops, national and international convenings, and a worldwide-distributed theatre festival. Awards include the Woodward International Playwriting Prize as well as First Prize in the Earth Matters on Stage Ecodrama Playwrights Festival and the Uprising National Playwriting Competition. Her plays and translations have been presented in a dozen countries around the world and she had edited or co-edited three anthologies of short plays about the climate crisis. In 2019, she was named one of “8 Trailblazers Who Are Changing the Climate Conversation” by Audubon Magazine.

Editorial Reviews

"For parents as conflictual as Rosalie’s, it will take some courage to read this book aloud. However, it is certain that it could inspire families to establish healthy boundaries and avoid overt conflict in co-parenting relationships. This would be a useful resource for family therapists and guidance counsellors."
