Description

Big Medicine Comes to Erie is a poetic exploration of modern day Southwestern Ontario from the viewpoint of a Lenne Lenape speaker. Utilizing the Huron name for the region, Lockhart takes the reader on a journey through time. Touching on major events throughout history, the lyric poetry paints a picture of the Delaware peoples' migration to the region.

About the author

D.A. Lockhart is the author of This City at the Crossroads (Black Moss Press 2017) and Big Medicine Comes to Erie (Black Moss Press 2016). He holds a MFA from Indiana University-Bloomington where he held a Neal Marshall fellowship in Creative Writing. He has received generous support for his work from the Ontario Arts Council and the Canada Council for the Arts. He is a pukuwankoamimens of the Lenape nation and a member of the Moravian of the Thames First Nation. He currently resides in Waawiiyaatanong on the south shore of the Detroit River.
